3 Tips For Eating Healthier At Work

The average person spends most of their days at work.  At times when work gets busy, it can be a challenge to make the best nutritional decisions.  When you are feeling stressed or pressed for deadlines, sometimes it can be all too easy to reach for a vending machine or eat at the nearest food truck.

Some people find that they are able to make better food choices when they are home and have the convenience of their own kitchen and time to reflect on what it is that they want to prepare.  However, with the right tools and tips, you can make healthy eating decisions even when you are at work. Here are some of the best tips for staying on top of your healthy food choices even at work.

Bring Your Own Lunch

One of the biggest culprits of packing on extra calories while at work is eating out of the vending machine or nearby fast food restaurants. When you are in a rush to eat quickly this is when you tend to make poor choices.

One of the best ways that you can avoid this is to prepare ahead of time.  This means packing your lunch beforehand so that you can anticipate your hunger and have something healthy on hand.

You can either pack something that you have pre made at the beginning of the week, or you can try a healthy frozen meal which has the calorie amount listed. 

Avoid Snacking

Snacking throughout the day at work can easily become a habit when you are constantly presented with bags of chips on coworkers desks, donuts in the kitchen, or vending machines with all of your favorite snacks.

Rather than giving into these temptations, try making a commitment to yourself to only eat meals and cut out snacks.  By doing this you will be able to cut out hundreds of unnecessary calories from your daily intake.

Drink Water Throughout The Day

Studies show that one out of three times that a person thinks that they are hungry they are in fact thirsty.  Their body, in turn, makes the mistake of confusing thirst for hunger and they eat more than their bodies need.

Drinking water throughout the day will not only keep your energy levels up and give you the hydration that you need in order to finish the job, but it will also curb your hunger and keep you slim and trim.

In between glasses of water you can also have black coffee or sparkling water which has no calories but will keep your stomach full.

Keeping a glass of calorie-free liquid near you at all times throughout the day will help remind you to keep drinking.
